Now
What I'm doing right now — building, training, reading, listening. Updated monthly. Inspired by Derek Sivers' /now convention.
May. Birthday month.
It is night. Quiet. The window is open so I can feel the cool down of the end of a day.
Two weeks from now: Palm Springs. My first real golf trip. Four rounds in two days. I keep telling people this and watching their faces. That's a lot, they say. I know, I say. But the bag is already packed.
Mid-May, a tournament. Small stakes, big nerves.
May 10 I get a DEXA scan. The goal: sub-15% body fat by end of year. Last measurement was 21%. At some point I'll put a graph here, tracking the climb down. After the scan I sit with my own trainer app — built it myself, not on the App Store yet — and feed it the truth.
Building
NOVA. My local LLM. Total hack mode. 8-10 hours a day on Skills — teaching the model to do specific things, in specific ways. Hard work. Exciting like I'm a teenager coding again.
Training
The gym, prescribed by the trainer app.
Studio Golf in El Segundo. The mat. The launch monitor. Tee Time Trainer open on the side, drills loaded. I follow the process. Single-digit handicap by end of year.
Reading
Four open at once. Stacked on the nightstand.
- Garden City — John Mark Comer. Slow. You read it like a prayer.
- God's Homecoming — N. T. Wright. Theology that actually breathes.
- The Tiger Slam — Kevin Cook. The year Tiger won everything. Reading it before Palm Springs.
- Hidden Potential — Adam Grant. For the work. For me.
Listening
Walking the dog or driving up the 405:
- The Rest is History — Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook making the past sound urgent.
- The Rest is Classified — spies, intelligence, real stakes.
- Bola Presa — keeps me in the loop during the NBA Playoffs.
Gear I'm into
- The Club Caddy — Jain.
- Nike Infinity Tour 2 — US Open Pack.
