About the Pope being homophobic, Feliciano being racist, and gays all being from the devil — what worries me most is when we will look at each other as brothers…
That troublemaker Feliciano is a Pastor. He can do whatever he wants inside his church. Although I think he crosses way over the line by using a “supernatural power” of manipulation, the people who are there go because they want to. They follow him because they want to.
The Pope, on the other hand, is the highest point of the Catholic church. I believe both should serve, follow, and preach what they believe in and represent.
What bothers me about Feliciano is the fact that he tries to shove this down the throats of the entire country, using a public office to enforce his religion. In the case of the Pope, what one expects from a Pope is that he at least lives and preaches what his Bible says.
What worries me is that there is a war being created. Either you are in favor of homosexuality or you are against it. Why can’t we just say: “I am not, I believe this is not the best for me and my children, but if you want to be, that’s fine by me”? Or: “I am, but if your faith believes this is wrong, follow your faith and let’s go play some soccer.”
My impression is that the “evangelicals” want all homosexuals to change their sexual life, and the homosexuals want all evangelicals to change their beliefs. So much concern with what the neighbor does and so little with what we ourselves do.
We are feeding this revanchism, this hate, that brings nothing to no one. Evangelicals post, talk, share the “war against the depraved homosexuals,” and on the other side we have those who fight strongly against the evangelicals, their rituals, practices, and beliefs.
In the long run, all of this is VERY dangerous. We see small signs of a civil war, and all of this should be much more concerning than who I, you, or our neighbor sleeps with.
We are all on the same ground. The majority points at fences and walls… I choose the Way.
