There Will Be a World Cup

By Fellipe Brito

If you don’t hate the World Cup, if you don’t turn your back on it, my friend… you’re a political alienated! A complacent little Brazilian who accepts all of this.

I spent the last two weeks thinking about whether I should enjoy the Cup. Unfortunately, I won’t be in the country. Since I was a kid I dreamed of seeing a Cup “at home” — it won’t be this time…

However, this idea of mine that I shouldn’t enjoy the Cup because of the corruption, I have already set aside.

If that were so, I should stop watching F1 in Bahrain, Interlagos, China, and so many other billion-dollar races held in places without the slightest of conditions…

If that were so, the Beijing Olympics should have been worldwide boycotted, including by me…

If that were so, I wouldn’t use a MacBook manufactured under who knows what conditions…

If that were so, I wouldn’t eat red meat, nor processed meat, wouldn’t use a car, electric light, water in the toilet…

I think my challenge as a Christian is to live in this hell without becoming a demon… the “boss” already said: I don’t want them to leave the world, just that they be free from evil. Amen!

Let me enjoy it without guilt.
